Information about the collection: There is no preface or advertisement, but there is a paragraph-length headnote for each poet, with biographical, critical, and bibliographic information. Each page has an engraved border, so it appears that the text is printed on a piece of white paper that is then mounted on an engraving. The engraved scenes range from the urban (glimpses of monuments and cathedrals) to the rural (pastoral scenes), and they are not all scenes of English life per se. Each poet has dates of birth and death listed in the TOC, but they are not reproduced here. After the first few, the names of individual poems are listed for just a few of the authors at the moment; others are forthcoming.
